William (Dejpayak)
Owner Dejpayak (Decha) was taught muay thai by his uncle, a police man, when still just 6 years old. Quickly people recognized his talent and promoted him in the competitive arena in his home town of Trang. There he became Champion and soon fought his way to province, area and south Champion. It was at this point where Sasiprapa Gym in Bangkok began to recognize his talent and thus adopted him as one of their national boxers and lead him too a very successful thai boxing career.

He was lead by the notorious Mr Thakoon Pongsupha (famous promoter and responsible for numerous champions like Malaipetch, Wishan Ponrid, Bureeruam, Noomthanong, Farkamron and Klangsuan.) He became a Lumpini champion and a regular participant of every international competition in Bangkok for many years. His winning record includes the Denmark and the Japanese Championship in 1999, he also won the Dutch championship of the new millennium. Dejpayak retired as World Champion after winning the Japanese Grand Prix in 2001.

At this time the Thai government and the World Muay Thai Council (WMTC) helped and supported setting up the Muay Thai federation and organization (HMTF) in Hong Kong. This helped achieve official recognization and advanced Thai boxing in Hong Kong to the world level. This is where Sasipraya Gym got involved. Soon after Dejpayak was sent to Hong Kong to share the Traditional and Professional Muay Thai experiences with the HMTF by teaching them in their leading gym.

Afterwards Dejpayak, at this time known as William (the name he prefers to be called), gave master classes Muay Thai in European gyms. And with all the experience he had gained in teaching both Thai and Farang (Foreigners) he began to think about founding his own gym.

He realized his dream by founding Lanta Muay Thai gym on the, at that time little known, island of Koh Lanta. Literally no more than a pare of boxing bags and a ring surrounded by jungle and nature and a unpaved road to reach it.

Koh Lanta since than has gained more and more in popupularity. Paved roads are built, massive resorts already cover the island. And Lanta Gym, still modest, soon became the fastest growing Gym in the south of Thailand. With this said it should be no surprise our goal is to become South Thailand's leading gym in the near future.
